DHANGADHI: Nagarik Unmukti Party has decided to not join CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s government.

The party’s founder Resham Chaudhary meet senior leaders of the party at Dillibazaar prison and took the decision to this extent.

Not only at the center, the party has also decided against joining the government in Sudurpashchim Province where its support is crucial to form government.

“Our role at the province is similar to that at the center. We will support the alliance, but won’t joint government until our demands are addressed,” Damodar Pandit, the spokesperson for Nagarik Unmukti Party, said.

The support of 27 members is needed to form government in 53-member Sudurpashchim Province Assembly. Four coalition partners – CPN-UML, Maoist Center, Nagarik Unmukti and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) – have 29 members in the assembly.

Nagarik Unmukti Party has been demanding that the government release its leaders and cadres convicted in Tikapur incident.
