KATHMANDU: Electric cars priced between Rs 2.299 million and Rs 22 million were launched on the opening day of the NADA Auto Show in Kathmandu on Tuesday.

Chinese automakers BYD, Dongfeng, Changan, Geely and XPENG launched their latest offerings at the Auto Show. BYD launched its entry-level SUV Atto 2, while Changan launched its mini car under its sub-brand Lumin. Similarly, XPENG launched its luxury MPV X9, Donfeng’s sub-brand Nammi launched its affordable SUV Vigo and Geely started sales of its mid-range SUV, the Geely EX 5.

Here we take a look at the price and specifications of these new models:

Lumin Mini Car
Price: Rs 2.299 million

Chinese automaker Changan launched its mini car, the Lumin EV, at the Auto Show. MAW Vriddhi, the authorized distributor of Changan in Nepal, has priced the car at Rs 2.299 million. The Lumin EV uses a 35 kW motor and a 28.08 kWh CATL battery, which offers a claimed range of up to 301. It also supports DC fast charging and can be charged from 30% to 80% in just 35 minutes.

Nammi Vigo
Price: Starts from Rs 3.799 million

Vigo is the second Nammi model in Nepal after the popular hatchback Nammi 01 which is also marketed as BOX in some markets. The car is available in two variants, E2 with a 45 kWh battery and E2+ with a larger 52 kWh battery. Both variants are powered by a 99 kW motor. The E2 is priced at Rs 3.799 million, while the E2+ is available for Rs 4.099 million.

BYD Atto 2
Price: Starts from Rs 4.399 million

Cimex Inc, the authorized BYD distributor in Nepal, has positioned the Atto 2 between the Dolphin and the larger Atto 3, which is immensely popular on Nepali roads. The car is available in a single variant with a 100 kW battery and a 51 kWh battery pack, which offers a WLTP range of 345 km when fully charged.

Geely EX5
Price: Starts from Rs 5.799 million

LRR Motors, the authorized distributor of Geely in Nepal, has launched two variants of the EX5 in Nepal. Both variants are powered by a 160 KW motor. The car is produced and marketed as Galaxy E5 and Proton eMas 7 in different markets. The company has offered a cash discount of Rs 300,000 and Rs 400,000 on Pro and Max variants, respectively, for bookings made at the Auto Show.

XPENG X9
Price: Rs 22 million

The X9 is a luxurious MPV from the Chinese company XPENG. The X9 supports 330 kW DC fast charging and is powered by a 235 kW front-wheel motor. Its powerful 84.5 kWh battery offers a WLTP range of 480 km. It has features like the LiDAR-less Hawk Eye Pilot ADAS system, zero-gravity seats, the suspension system features 6D AI anti-motion sickness technology and a ceiling-mounted 21.4-inch fold-down 3K resolution display. CG Motors, the authorized distributor of XPENG, has priced the MPV at Rs 22 million.
