NAC starts preparation to launch flights to Seoul

KATHMANDU: Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) is set to expand its network by launching scheduled flights to South Korea. This move marks another significant milestone for the national flag carrier, which has been on a mission to strengthen its international network in recent years.

According to Archana Khadka, the spokesperson for NAC, the airline has already begun preparations to fly to Incheon International Airport in Seoul. The new route is expected to provide more travel options for passengers traveling between Nepal and South Korea, as well as facilitate trade and tourism between the two countries. Thousands of Nepalis work in different sectors in South Korea.

To prepare for the flight, NAC has formed a 10-member Safety Audit Sub-Committee under the leadership of Deputy General Manager (Technical) Bikram KC. The sub-committee comprises of representatives from various departments, including safety and engineering, and will work closely with South Korea’s civil aviation agency to facilitate the necessary audit of NAC’s operations.

The audit process is a crucial step in securing regulatory approval for NAC to launch flights to Seoul. It will involve a thorough assessment of the airline’s safety management systems, technical capabilities, and operational procedures, among other things.

Seoul will become the airline’s 11th international destination if it gets approval from the South Korean authorities. Currently, NAC operates flights to 10 destinations across Asia and the Middle East, including New Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Riyadh, Dubai, Doha, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo (Narita), Bangkok, and Hong Kong. The airline operates a fleet of two Airbus A330s and two A320s.
