NAC issues apology after grounding of three aircraft disrupts flights

KATHMANDU: Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) apologized to its passengers following disruptions in its regular flights which left hundreds of passengers stranded.

Only one out of four aicraft of NAC is currently in operation. This has affected flight schedule of the carrier leaving passengers stranded in different destinations.

Issuing a statement on Thursday, the national flag carrier said it apologizes for the inconvenience caused to passengers due to the technical issues that led to this difficult situation. “We are working to ensure passengers reach their destinations by arranging flights through our own aircraft or other available airlines,” it added.

The national flag carrier has claimed that its wide-body aircraft 9N-ALY will resume its scheduled service by Thursday evening.
The NAC has said that its narrow-body aircraft (9N-AKW), which left for China for 5C-check, will arrive only on Saturday. The national flag carrier has said that it has formed a committee to investigate the delays and other issues related to the aircraft sent to China. “If any negligence is found on the part of employees, the Maintenance and Repair Organization (MRO), or agents, legal action will be recommended,” NAC said in the statement.

NAC has also said that its other narrow body aircraft (9N-AKX), which has beeng rounded due to issues with its landing gear, will return to service after undergoing repairs in New Delhi. “We have already applied to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) for a ferry-flight permit,” the statement added.

NAC has also assured that stranded passengers will be provided hotel accommodations at the corporation’s expense until alternative flight arrangements are made.
