KATHMANDU: A patrolling team of the Nepal Army and poachers exchanged fire in Banke National Park on Thursday.
According to the Nepal Army, the poachers first opened fire at the army near Rajkot in Rapti Sonari-1 in the national park. “The poachers first fired two times at the joint patrolling team of the Nepal Army and the forest guards. In response, the patrolling team fired four rounds at the poacher,” the army said.
The patrolling team has recovered a 12-bore file, a muzzle-loader gun, bullets, a khukuri knife and other logistics from the site. The poachers, however, managed to flee, the army said.
