KATHMANDU: Nepal Army, which reverted to division structure last week by putting the command structure on hold, has named the chiefs of all its eight divisions.
The Nepal Army has named Major General as the chief of seven divisions and Brigadier General as the officiating chief of the Far-Western Division.
All incumbent chiefs of the four commands have been appointed as the chiefs of the four divisions, while new chiefs have been named for the other four divisions.
Chief of the Eastern Command Major General Sahadev Khakda will now head the Eastern Division. Similarly, the army has named Major General Prem Dhwaj Adhikari as the chief of the Mid-Eastern Division. Major General Yograj Sharma, chief of the Valley Command, has been named as the chief of the Valley Division.
Similarly, the army has appointed Major General Baburam Shrestha as the chief of the Western Division. He was the chief of the Mid Command under the now defunct command structure.
Likewise, Nepal Army has named Major General Yam Prakash Dhakal and Hiralal Joshi as the chiefs of Mid-Western and North-Western divisions, respectively. Joshi was the chief of the Western Command.
Brigadier General Bijay Thapa has been named the officiating chief of the Far-Western Division. Thapa is at the top of the list for promotion to Major General. He may have been given the responsibility as he is being promoted to Major General very soon, a source at the Nepal Army told Himal Press.
