My candidacy is intact: Ashika Tamang

KATHMANDU: Aashika Tamang, a candidate of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) for Dhading-1, has expressed concern after rumours spread on the eve of the election claiming that her candidacy had been annulled.

Various media outlets and social media posts have circulated information on Wednesday, stating that her nomination was cancelled.

In a social media post on Wednesday, Tamang said her candidacy remains intact. “My serious attention has been drawn to misleading news circulated by some media houses claiming that Aashika Tamang’s candidacy has been cancelled. I want to make it clear that there is no truth in this news; my candidacy remains intact. The repeated allegations labelling me as a foreigner are baseless,” she wrote.

Tamang further wrote that as a citizen of Nepal, the constitution grants her the full rights to vote and to contest elections. “I have already sought legal remedy against this conspiracy designed to weaken me at the last moment. Please do not be misled by any rumours and cast your vote with confidence,” she said. “Change is only possible through your conscientious vote.”
