KATHMANDU: District Administration Office (DAO), Mustang, has issued an advisory to local residents due to potential flooding in the Boksikhola River.
Posting a message on its social media page, DAO Mustang warned that recent avalanches have caused a significant accumulation of snow in the river’s upstream areas which has increased the risk of flooding.
Mustang Chief District Officer Janak Raj Panta said security personnel have relocated children and elderly from the Boksikhola settlement on the bank of the river to safer areas.
Boksikhola drains snow waters from Dhaulagiri and Tukuche Peak.
“This buildup of snow heightens concerns about sudden melting and potential flash floods,” Pant added.
