KATHMANDU: Music Nepal, one of the leading music publishing companies in the country, has built a state-of-the-art post-production studio for the Nepali film and audio-visual industry.

According to the company, the new studio, named Sagarmatha, built with the technical support of Dolby Laboratories, has brought international-standard sound and visual post-production capabilities to Nepal for the first time.

This will be Nepal’s first Dolby Atmos sound mixing studio and among 10 such studios in South Asia.

The studio features a fully aligned Film Mix Room, which enables Nepali filmmakers to complete the entire post-production process domestically.

“With this studio, Nepali filmmakers can now pre-mix, record Foley, design background music, and complete the final mix all in Kathmandu,” said Sameer Seth, Director – Marketing (India), Dolby Laboratories. “Dolby Atmos has become the global standard for immersive storytelling across cinema, OTT platforms, and television. Music Nepal’s new facility ensures Nepali content creators can meet those standards at home.”

The studio is equipped with a Dolby Atmos Film Mix Room, a 9.1 Dolby Atmos mix room for OTT platforms and web series, and a dedicated stereo mix room for music, dialogue, and Foley work. Each room has been acoustically designed and aligned to deliver accurate sound reproduction across stereo, surround, and immersive formats, according to the company.

The facility also includes two editing rooms, a color correction suite, and a creative lounge with refreshment facilities, designed to support long, intensive post-production schedules.
