KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress lawmaker Mukta Kumari Yadav has filed her nomination for the election of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.
She is the common candidate of opposition parties led by Nepali Congress.
Yadav was elected to the House of Representatives from the proportional representation system.
Badri Pandey of Nepali Congress is Yadav’s proposer, while Metmani Chaudhary of CPN (Unified Socialist), and Sarbendra Nath Shukla of Loktantrik Samajbadi Party (LSP) are the seconders.
Yadav was elected central working committee member of the Nepali Congress in the 14th general convention by securing the highest number of votes. She was elected as a member of the National Assembly in 2017 and in 2013 Constituent Assembly.
The House of Representatives is holding the election for Deputy Speaker on Saturday. The ruling coalition has fielded Indira Rana Magar as its common candidate for the post of Deputy Speaker.
