MoUs signed for Indian assistance in 11 community projects

KATHMANDU: The Embassy of India in Kathmandu signed separate Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration (MoFAGA) of Nepal, and the respective project implementing agencies on Monday to implement 11 High-impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) across Nepal.

The projects, to be built with grant assistance from the Government of India, span key sectors such as education, health, and waste management and carry a total estimated cost of Rs 1.16 billion, according to a press statement issued by the Indian mission in Nepal.

The new projects include Shree Janajyoti Secondary School, Sanni Triveni Rural Municipality-4, Kalikot (Karnali Province); Shree Maheshwar Secondary School, Bheemdatta Municipality-10, Kanchanpur (Sudurpashchim Province); Primary School Educational Building, Rajdevi Municipality-4, Rautahat (Madhesh Province); Shree Jana Adarsha Secondary School, Shivasatakshi Municipality, Jhapa (Koshi Province); Shree Gokuleshwor Secondary School, Shailyashikhar Municipality-9, Darchula (Sudurpashchim Province); and Shree Janata Secondary School, Gauradaha Municipality-1, Jhapa (Koshi Province).

Other projects include Patthardaiya Health Post, Bijayanagar Rural Municipality-3, Kapilvastu (Lumbini Province); Municipal Hospital, Triyuga Municipality-5, Udayapur (Koshi Province); Waste Management Center, Duhabi Municipality-4, Sunsari (Koshi Province); Ilam Hospital Emergency Block, Ilam Municipality-7, Ilam (Koshi Province); and Bhimgithe Health Post, Badigad Rural Municipality-7, Baglung (Gandaki Province).

Since the launch of the HICDP initiative in 2003, the Government of India has supported 590 such projects in Nepal. Of these, 502 have already been completed.
