KATHMANDU: Visiting Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri paid courtesy calls on President Ram Chandra Paudel and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Sunday.
Misri, who arrived in Kathmandu earlier in the day first met Prime Minister Oli at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar.
He later visited President Paudel at the Office of the President, where the two discussed longstanding ties between Nepal and India.
During the meeting, President Paudel expressed appreciation for India’s progress in socio-economic and technological sectors, stating that Nepal, as a close neighbor and friend, seeks to benefit further from such advancements. He also welcomed India’s “Neighbourhood First” policy, reaffirming Nepal’s commitment to maintaining strong bilateral relations with India.
Foreign Secretary Misri, in turn, said Nepal holds a high priority in India’s foreign policy and expressed optimism that his visit would help explore new ways to enhance bilateral connectivity and cooperation in the modern era.
Misri is in Nepal for a two-day official visit at the invitation of his Nepali counterpart, Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai.
