Middlemen have captured the system, Dahal reiterates

KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Center) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal has alleged that the real power of the government does not lie with political leaders but with middlemen, who, he said, have captured the system.

Inaugurating the seventh national convention of the All Nepal Women’s Association (Revolutionary) in Kathmandu, he added that the Maoist Center had to quit government because its campaign for good governance, aimed at ending corruption and the dominance of intermediaries, faced obstruction.

He also called for unity, stating that reactionary forces are conspiring against the republic. Dahal also said achievements secured through the Maoist revolution are increasingly coming under attack from various quarters. He emphasized the need for unity to both safeguard these achievements and steer the country toward socialism.

The former Prime Minister also admitted that the constitution could not be drafted exactly as his party had envisioned and instead promulgated as a document of compromise. He added that activities against the constitution are now taking place instead of focusing on its implementation.

Dahal also underscored the need for a directly elected executive head to ensure stability and good governance in the country.
