KATHMANDU: The Federal Parliament Secretariat is preparing to administer the oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected members of the House of Representatives on Thursday.
Issuing a notice on Monday, the secretariat invited the new lawmakers to attend the swearing ceremony at the meeting hall of the House of Representatives at 1 am on Thursday.
The seniormost member of the House of Representatives will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the new lawmakers. Before that, the seniormost member will be sworn in by President Bidhya Devi Bhandari.
The members of the House of Representatives can take the oath of office and secrecy in their mother tongue. The lawmakers, however, will have to send the translation of the oath of office and secrecy to the secretariat three days before the swearing in, according to the notice.
President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on Sunday invited political parties to make their claims to form the government within seven days.
The President’s decision to invite political parties to make claim to government formation, which came before the members of the House of Representatives were sworn, has drawn criticisms.
