Maoist supremo Dahal reaches his wartime refuge in Rolpa

ROLPA: The Mid-Hills Highway Campaign of the CPN (Maoist Center), led by its Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal, which began in Patan of Baitadi, has reached Rolpa.

On Wednesday, the campaign team received a warm welcome in Thabang, Rolpa, where local residents and party leaders greeted Dahal and members of his entourage.

Thabang holds historical significance as a key refuge for Dahal during the ‘People’s War’, while Labang, also in Rolpa, is recognized as an important meeting site of the former Maoist movement.

The campaign team is scheduled to stay overnight in Rolpa.

The Maoist-led ‘People’s War’, which began in February 1996 and lasted until 2006, claimed over 17,000 lives and displaced or disappeared thousands. The signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) paved the way for the Maoists to join peaceful politics, ultimately leading to the declaration of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal.
