KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that his party was grappling with various problems.
Addressing the central working committee meeting of the party, which began in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Dahal said that although the party had a practice of self-criticism in the past, it has been discontinued these days. He also expressed displeasure at the lack of activities in the party. “Maoist Center is not as vibrant as it should be,” Dahal said. “It doesn’t look like a political party.”
Dahal, however, said that the central working committee should be able to give direction to the party, solve all the problems that the party is facing, and make it vibrant as it was in the past.
“People’s hope in our party has increased with our ascension to the government. There are indications of transformation in the country with recent government activities,” he maintained.
Presenting his organizational report at the central working committee meeting, Dahal claimed the Maoist Center has 752,956 members all over the country.
According to the report, the highest concentration of party members is in Bagmati (147,353), while Sudurpashchim has the lowest (80,482).
