Maoist Center files cybercrime complaint against former AIG Devendra Subedi

KATHMANDU: The CPN (Maoist Center) has filed a cybercrime complaint against former Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Devendra Subedi.

Subedi had, in an interview a few days ago, claimed that Rs 20 million was taken out in two trucks from the residence of Maoist Center Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal two days before the Gen Z protest.

The Maoist Center, which officially refuted Subedi’s statement, lodged a formal complaint with the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police on Sunday, according to Dahal’s personal secretary Govinda Acharya.

“A false narrative has been spread with the intention of misleading the public and defaming the party leadership,” the statement from the Maoist Chair’s Secretariat said. “Since this act amounts to a serious cybercrime under existing laws, a complaint has been filed against former AIG Devendra Subedi at the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police.”
