Maoist Center decides to organize general convention within two months

KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Center) has dissolved its Central Committee and formed a General Convention Organizing Committee under the leadership of Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

The 7th meeting of the party’s Central Committee that concluded in Kathmandu on Friday took the decision.

All office-bearers of the dissolved central committee will be members of the General Convention Organizing Committee Secretariat.

Although the date for the general convention has not been fixed, the party has said that the convention will be held between mid-November and mid-December.

The meeting also decided to form a powerful commission to investigate the property of party leaders and cadres. Likewise, it decided to prepare a procedure to study about family members of leaders and cadres holding important positions in the party.

In addition, the party will draft policies on discipline, working style and conduct. It has also decided to ensure maximum participation of Generation Z in all party committees.

The meeting endorsed Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s proposal. It also decided to incorporate the proposals put forward by Senior Vice Chairperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Deputy General Secretary Janardan Sharma into it.

The party has also decided to pursue unification talks with like-minded parties.
