Maoist Center admits its mistakes in naming Koshi Province

ITAHARI: CPN (Maoist Center) Koshi Province Committee has confessed to its missteps in naming Province 1 as Koshi Province. The committee has said that the party remains committed to renaming the province to reflect its multiple identities.

Unveiling the decision taken by the fifth meeting of the province committee held in Biratnagar, Chairman Harka Bahadur Nembang (Mikso) stated that the Maoist Center is dedicated to reviewing the province’s name to encompass its diverse identities. The meeting also conducted a thorough evaluation of the province committee’s and the Koshi Province parliamentary committee’s mistakes in naming the province.

Koshi Province Assembly endorsed a proposal to name Province 1 as Koshi Province on March 1, 2023. Maoist Center had also voted for the proposal.  Now, the Maoist Center has acknowledged its mistake and has reached a consensus that the province should be named with consideration for its pluralistic nature.

In a bid to strengthen its party organization, Maoist Center is initiating a three-month campaign from September 2. Nembang said that the province committee is preparing to launch the campaign simultaneously across all 1,157 wards of the province.
