KATHMANDU: The government has removed Hitendra Dev Shakya as the Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).
A cabinet meeting held on Sunday took the decision, according to the Minister for Finance Rameshore Khanal.
“NEA Executive Director Hitendra Dev Shakya has been appointed as a Specialist (Special Class) at the Water and Energy Commission Secretariat. Deputy Executive Director of NEA Manoj Silwal has been appointed in his place,” Khanal added.
Shakya was appointed as the Executive Director of the NEA in March after the KP Sharma Oli-led government removed Kul Man Ghising on March 24. Ghising is currently serving as the Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation in the interim government. He is also overseeing two other powerful ministries.
NEA sources say Silwal was close to Ghising during his time as the Executive Director of NEA.
