KATHMANDU: A helicopter of Manang Air en route to Kathmandu from Solukhumbu has gone out of contact.

The chopper left Lukla at 10:05 am and went out of contact after 20 minutes of being airborne, said Jagannath Niraula, the spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN).

“Five foreign tourists and one pilot are on board. We don’t have more details now,” Niraula added.

The Lukla-Kathmandu helicopter ride takes approximately 45 minutes.

Manang Air operates a fleet of two AS350 B3 (H125) choppers.
