KATHMANDU: A man was shot dead in Siraha district on Friday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Premnath Yadav, around 40, of Siraha Municipality–7, according to the District Police Office, Siraha.
Police say Yadav was shot by an unidentified person while working in a field near the Mainabati River in Siraha–7.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Ramesh Bahadur Pal said Yadav sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and died on the spot. “The crime scene has been cordoned off, and a manhunt is underway to arrest the assailant,” he said.
The incident occurred about seven kilometres from the Nepal–India border.
