Man sets himself, wife, three daughters on fire

KATHMANDU: A man set himself, his wife, and three daughters on fire on Tuesday night.

According to DSP Keshav Thebe of the Metropolitan Police Circle, Gaushala, Chanchal Bahadur Singh poured kerosene on his wife and three daughters, aged 24, 16, and 8 years, and set them on fire. “Preliminary investigations show he then poured kerosene on his body and set himself on fire,” Thebe added.

Thebe stated that Chanchal Bahadur was inebriated when the incident occurred. Police are investigating the case, he added.

Neighbors informed the police after they saw the fire in the family’s residence.

“Two elder daughters are seriously injured. They are receiving treatment in the ICU of the Burns Ward at Kirtipur Hospital,” Thebe said. “Chanchal Bahadur, his wife Bindu, and the youngest daughter have suffered about 10% burns.”
