BUTWAL: A 57-year-old man died in a scooter accident in Kalikanagar, Butwal, on Monday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Purna Shrestha, originally from Purba Khola Rural Municipality–4 in Palpa district, who had been staying at his sister’s home in Kalikanagar in Butwal–10.
According to Inspector Bishnu Bahadur Basnet of the Ward Police Office, Shrestha, a kidney patient, was on his way to a local hospital for dialysis at around 5:30 am when the accident occurred.
“Shrestha, who was riding a scooter (Lu 19 Pa 2697), collided with an auto-rickshaw (Na 2 Ha 753) parked in the service lane of Kalikanagar, Butwal–10. He died on the spot,” Basnet said.
Police initially found only the overturned scooter and Shrestha’s body at the accident site. However, upon reviewing CCTV footage, it was confirmed that the scooter had crashed into the parked auto-rickshaw.
The auto-rickshaw was later discovered hidden at Mainabagar in Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City–2.
