KATHMANDU: Police have arrested a man on the charge of sharing the name and images of a young woman on social media claiming her to be a rape victim codenamed ‘Gaushala 26.’
Keshar Man Rai of Chichila Rural Municipality-2, who was arrested in Sankhuwasabha district, has been brought to Kathmandu, according to SSP Nabinda Aryal of the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police.
Police have got a seven-day remand for Rai from the Kathmandu District Court for further investigation.
According to SSP Aryal, police are preparing to arrest a few more individuals for the same offense.
The district court has found former cricket captain Sandeep Lamichhane guilty of sexually assaulting Gaushala 26. He has been sentenced to eight years in prison and ordered to pay Rs 500,000 in fines and compensation.
