Mahanagar Yatayat launches Thankot-Dhulikhel bus service

KATHMANDU: Mahanagar Yatayat Pvt Ltd has launched a passenger bus service on the Thankot-Dhulikhel route.

The company, which has been providing transport service along Right Road with 49 buses, received delivery of 40 Tata buses on Thursday. Amid a ceremony on Thursday, Sipradi Trading Ltd – the authorized distributor for Tata Motors for Nepal, handed over the keys of the 40 buses to representatives of the company.

The newly introduced service will connect Chandragiri, Thankot and Godam areas of western Kathmandu with Banepa and Dhulikhel of Kavre district. The buses will leave Godam and pass through Thankot Checkpost, Kalanki, Balkhu, Koteshwar, Bhaktapur and Banepa before reaching Dhulikhel. While returning, the buses will leave Dhulikhel and pass through Banepa, Bhaktapur, Koteshwar, Sinamangal, Gaushala, Maharajgunj, Swoyambhu and Kalanki before reaching Godam.

The route is about 40 kilometers long. According to Mahanagar Yatayat, the buses will depart from Thankot and Dhulikhel every half hour.

The company has unveiled plans to introduce 10 electric buses soon.
