KATHMANDU: The Madhesh Province Government has issued a 30-day ultimatum to the federal government for the adjustment of the police force.
Speaking at a press meet in Janakpurdham, the capital of Madhesh Province on Wednesday, Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav announced that the provincial government will present a memorandum to the federal government on Thursday, calling for the immediate adjustment of the police force. “If the police force adjustment is not carried out within 30 days, we will initiate protests against the federal government,” he added.
Yadav further stated that the protest would continue until the adjustment of the police force. “Provincial governments are facing difficulty in working because the police administration is still under the federal government,” Yadav said. “Although the federal government has already made the Police Act, it has not come into implementation. There are also issues related to civil servants.”
The Chief Minister said the provincial government would stage a phase-wise protest to exert pressure on the federal government to enact crucial laws.
