JANAKPURDHAM: The Madhesh Province Government has proposed to provide unemployment allowances of Rs 2,000 per month to unemployed youths who have completed their bachelor’s degree.
Announcing the Cabinet decisions on Wednesday, Chief Minister Saroj Yadav said that the proposal aims to offer a subsistence allowance to unemployed graduates aged 18–35, as defined by the National Youth Policy, within the province.
The decision, however, will not be immediately implemented as the Supreme Court has barred the provincial government from taking policy decisions that can have a long-term impact.
“Once the Supreme Court gives it a go-ahead, the provincial government will move forward by making a policy decision to implement the proposal,” he added.
Yadav also informed that the process of drafting procedures to implement the decision to honor the martyrs of the Madhesh Movement with the “Madhesh Ratna” recognition is underway.
