JANAKPURDHAM: The meeting of the ruling coalition convened to discuss the expansion of the Madhesh Province Cabinet ended without any conclusion on Friday.
The meeting was called amid the failure of Chief Minister Krishna Prasad Yadav to expand the cabinet even eight days after the formation of the government. However, the meeting of the six coalition partners, which was called to discuss the sharing of ministerial portfolios and the upcoming vote of confidence of Chief Minister Yadav, failed to reach any decision.
One leader, who attended the meeting, told Himal Press that the meeting failed to take any decision as Saroj Kumar Yadav, the parliamentary party Leader of the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal, is currently abroad. “Although the meeting touched on the two agendas, a detailed decision could not be reached due to the JSP Nepal’s leader’s absence,” he added.
Ram Ashish Yadav, chief whip of JSP Nepal, said the meeting discussed allowing the Chief Minister to seek a vote of confidence by the third week of December, considering the 11th General Convention of the CPN-UML. He said the next meeting, to be held within a few days, will finalize the portfolios.
Mahesh Prasad Yadav, the parliamentary party Leader of the Janamat Party and the Minister for Finance, said the coalition partners agreed to finalize portfolios in the next meeting.
Yadav of Nepali Congress was appointed Chief Minister with the support of the six-party alliance on December 5. He took the oath of office and secrecy on December 6.
