KATHMANDU: The District Court in Khotang has granted bail to agricultural scientist Madan Rai, who is accused of sexually abusing minor girls, with a bail amount of Rs 400,000.
Following a bail hearing on Monday, Judge Subash Babu Puri, presiding over a single bench, made the decision to release Rai on bail.
Rai was arrested by the District Police Office in Khotang on May 12, following a complaint filed by a girl studying at the Shubadhra-Madan Foundation, an organization founded by Rai.
The police have charged Rai under Clause 66, Sub-Clause 3 (A), (C), and (E) of the Act Relating to Children, 2018.
During his statement to the district attorney, Rai admitted to the charges but claimed that they were a part of sex education.
