LUMBINI: Lumbini Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya has stated that the government would create an environment conducive to investment for the development of the province. He identified agriculture, tourism, and industry as the main foundations for the economic, social, and cultural development of the province.
Addressing a virtual event organized by the Non-Resident Nepali Association NCC America on Sunday, Acharya encouraged foreign investors to invest confidently in the province. “The government is creating an investment-friendly environment. You can invest with confidence in sectors such as agriculture, tourism, industry, education and health,” he said. “The Lumbini Circuit, along with the mountains, hills, plains, and Bardiya National Park, are major tourist attractions in the province.”
He also said efforts were underway to start regular flights from Gautam Buddha International Airport.
Similarly, Minister of Industry, Tourism, and Transport Management of Lumbini Province, At the event, Prachanda Bikram Neupane, said that the province’s religious, cultural, and historical sites have not been adequately promoted. He expressed the government’s commitment to changing the promotion model to reach a global audience.
Dhruva Prasad Kharel, mayor of Devdah Municipality in Rupandehi, highlighted the lack of promotion for the Lumbini Circuit in the global market. Similarly, Ram Prasad Gyawali, chief administrative officer of Lumbini Cultural Municipality, stressed the potential for developing Lumbini as a tourist hub and the need for cooperation between the three tiers of government.
Thakur Kumar Shrestha, president of the Siddhartha Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Rupandehi, emphasized the need for plans from both government and private sectors to extend the length of stay of foreign tourists in Lumbini.
