KATHMANDU: Minister for Forest and Environment of the Lumbini Province Government, Badshah Kurmi, has resigned from his position.
Kurmi, who is a prime accused in the disappearance of Nirmala Devi Kurmi from Banke, submitted his resignation to Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya on Tuesday.
The Nepali Congress lawmaker was appointed as minister of the coalition government in the province on July 24.
Human rights activists had protested Kurmi’s appointment, demanding his immediate removal from the cabinet. They even marched from Nepalgunj to Kathmandu to draw attention to their demands.
