Lumbini Chief Minister Acharya to seek trust vote on Tuesday

KATHMANDU: Lumbini Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya is seeking a trust vote on Tuesday.

According to Durlabh Pun Magar, secretary of the Lumbini Province Assembly, Acharya will present a vote of confidence motion in the province assembly on Tuesday.

Acharya’s party CPN-UML and his coalition partners Nepali Congress (NC), Janamat Party and Nagarik Unmukti Party have issued whips to vote in favor of the vote of confidence motion. Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal and Loktantrik Samajbadi Party have also decided to support the confidence motion.

Acharya was appointed Chief Minister on July 22 with the support of 29 members of UML and 27 members of NC. The two parties command a comfortable majority in the 87-member province assembly.

Although Lila Giri is the parliamentary party leader of UML in the Lumbini Province Assembly, the party decided to pick Acharya as the chief minister.
