KATHMANDU: Nepal LP Gas Industry Association (NLPGA) has postponed its protest after the government expressed commitment to address legitimate demands of cooking gas bottlers.
The NLPGA took the decision following a meeting between Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies; officials of the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC); and its representatives.
Minister Bhandari invited NLPGA officials for a discussion after the association announced its protest programs.
The NLPGA, among other things, demanded an adjustment in commission in line with rising costs, stating that the commission for bottlers has not been raised for the past six years.
Earlier, the ministry had formed a committee led by Rajan Paudel, Director General of the Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection, to study the matter.
NOC Spokesperson Manoj Kumar Thakur said gas bottlers have decided to call off their protest for 15 days as it would take some time to study the report submitted by the committee.
