KATHMANDU: Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) bottlers have called off their protest after signing a five-point agreement with the government.
The agreement was reached after a meeting between government officials and representatives of the Nepal LPG Industries Association (NLPGIA) in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
Among others, the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has increased the commission to bottlers by a flat Rs 12.75 per cylinder considering the rise in their transport expenses and administrative costs. Likewise, the two sides have agreed to form a sub-committee to decide whether to provide the increased commission at a flat rate or percentage, as demanded by the bottlers.
Similarly, bottlers have started to receive purchase delivery orders (PDOs) from the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC).
The Nepal LPG Industries Association (NLPGIA) had stopped receiving PDOs from NOC to pressure the petroleum monopolist to raise their commissions, submitting a 19-point memorandum about a month ago.
