KATHMANDU: Police have arrested Ram Bahadur Bomjon, dubbed the ‘Little Buddha’ by media outlets, from Kathmandu

Bomjon, who is facing charges of killing, raping, and the forced disappearance of followers, had been on the run.

According to SP Navaraj Adhikari, the spokesperson for the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police, Bomjon was arrested in Kathmandu on Tuesday evening. “He has been arrested. We will divulge more details on Wednesday,” Adhikari added.

Bomjan is allegedly involved in the forced disappearance of his followers from Nuwakot, Makwanpur, Sindhupalchowk, and Sarlahi districts. The CIB had raided his Ashram in Sindhupalchowk four years ago but had failed to apprehend him. A police raid on his Ashram in Sindhuli three years ago had also failed.
