KATHMANDU: Senior leaders of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) have accused party Chairperson Rajendra Lingden of making unilateral decisions that have caused “irreparable damage” to the party.
Issuing a joint statement on Thursday, Vice Presidents Bikram Pandey and Mukunda Shyam Giri, and General Secretaries Dr Dhawal Shumsher Rana and Kunti Shah accused Lingden of repeatedly violating the party statute.
They claimed in the statement that Lingden unilaterally removed senior leader Navaraj Subedi from his position as chair of the party’s Disciplinary Committee, in violation of party rules and contrary to a consensus reached during a high-level meeting.
“In a meeting held at the residence of former Chairperson Dr Prakash Chandra Lohani, Chairperson Lingden had requested Subedi to carry on with his responsibilities within the party,” the statement read.
They also alleged that Subedi’s removal was not an isolated case. According to them, General Secretary Dr Rana was dismissed from his role as head of the Organization Department while undergoing treatment in India.
“Similarly, Sagun Sundar Lawati was removed as party Spokesperson and Central Committee member Dhansur Shah was relieved of his post as member-secretary of the Organizational Coordination Department — all without following due process,” they said in the statement. “Such arbitrary actions against dedicated members working to restore the constitutional monarchy and establish Nepal as a Sanatan Hindu nation have raised serious concerns within party ranks and the general public.”
They also objected to the Chairperson’s repeated practice of appointing and removing party office-bearers and central members unilaterally, bypassing the party statute.
