KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden tore up the budget book in parliament, expressing dissatisfaction over budget allocation in his constituency.
Participating in the ministerial-level budget discussion on Tuesday, Lingden expressed dissatisfaction over budget allocations of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport and tore up the budget book at the rostrum.
“Usually, I don’t get angry or annoyed easily. I do get angry sometimes, but I calm myself very soon,” Lingden said. “However, when I got hold of the budget book of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, I felt like tearing it up and tossing it away. But I won’t throw it here as it would go against parliamentary decorum.”
Minister for Finance Barsha Man Pun presented the budget for the fiscal year 2024/25 in the joint session of parliament on May 28. Lawmakers have criticized disproportionate allocations for some ministries.
