KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairperson Rajendra Lingden has commented that the Maoists have “heroically surrendered” by reaching a two-point agreement with the government.
Speaking in the meeting of the House of Representatives on Friday after CPN-UML and Maoist Center signed the agreement, Lingden said the drama of the past 17-18 days has ended with a heroic surrender. “The Nepali people have understood that the two parties have reached an understanding for a regime of plunder,” Lingden said.
He added that corruption in the visit visa could not have occurred without the protection of political leadership. “This controversy has brought disgrace to the country. It must be investigated,” Lingden said. “If the home minister has any morality left, he should resign.”
Lingden also condemned the government’s interference in people’s right to write and speak. He also accused the government of attempting to impose authoritarian rule. “While RPP and other parties were protesting peacefully, RPP Nepal Chairperson Kamal Thapa was arrested. Lawmaker Deepak Singh, who went to meet him in police custody, was also detained there,” Lingden said. “Such actions are against the constitution, and I strongly condemn them.”
