KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden has declared that his party would organize a decisive protest aimed at reinstating the monarchy.
Addressing a program organized by the party to commemorate the 302nd Birth Anniversary of Prithvi Narayan Shah in Kathmandu on Friday, Lingden announced the party’s intent to stage a decisive protest for the reinstatement of the monarchy. However, he did not specify when the protest would take place.
Lingden made the announcement in the presence of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane, among other leaders.
“In these special circumstances, the larger political parties must reach a consensus by involving all political forces to prevent further damage. Parties are acting against the nation’s interest one after another,” Lingden remarked. “The responsibility, therefore, lies with RPP to mobilize the people. I am confident that we will compel the major parties to change their course.”
