KATHMANDU: Rajendra Lingden, the chairperson of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), has stated that as the monsoon season has already begun, there will be no major protests for now. He said the party would launch protests at an appropriate time.
Speaking to journalists in Haldibari of Jhapa on Saturday, Lingden clarified that the party’s ongoing movement is not solely for the restoration of the monarchy and a Hindu state but also for good governance and development in the country. He added that the party would launch a significant movement at the right time.
The RPP chair drew criticism for not attending a recent meeting of the Joint People’s Movement for the Restoration of the Monarchy, organized to prepare strategies for the next phase of protest.
Lingden also said that the country has been led by a handful of leaders for the past three decades, regardless of the political system, highlighting the need for a change in leadership.
He added that while the party disagrees with certain aspects of the constitution, it acknowledges that some provisions are positive.
