Lawmaker Metmani Chaudhary accused of check dishonor

KATHMANDU: A complaint has been filed against CPN (Unified Socialist) Deputy General Secretary and lawmaker Metmani Chaudhary at the District Police Office, Dang, accusing him of check dishonor.

According to police, the complaint, received via postal service on Wednesday, alleges that a cheque worth Rs 54 million issued by Chaudhary had bounced.

The complaint was sent by Dhat Budha Magar, a construction entrepreneur based in Rolpa.

SP Arjun Prasad Timilsina, chief of the District Police Office, Dang, confirmed that a complaint has been received against lawmaker Chaudhary.

Police said they have summoned the complainant for verification of the complaint and that further investigation will proceed accordingly.

Chaudhary was elected to the House of Representatives from the Dang-1 constituency in the 2022 general election.
