Lawmaker Khatiwada asks govt to issue white paper on US grant assistance

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress lawmaker Ram Hari Khatiwada has demanded that the government issue a white paper detailing the grant assistance provided by the United States to Nepal.

Speaking in the meeting of the House of Representatives on Thursday, Khatiwada expressed concerns on the misuse of grant assistance provided by the US government. He said a detailed public disclosure should be made regarding which bodies received the funds, for what purposes, and how much was spent. “A white paper should be issued regarding the US assistance. Clear information should be provided about the funds received through non-governmental organizations (NGOs) or international non-governmental organizations (INGOs),” he said.

Khatiwada also drew the government’s attention to the deportation of Nepali citizens from Nepal.
