KATHMANDU: Member of the House of Representatives, Bidya Bhattarai, has condemned the recent vandalism by students at Tribhuvan University as illegal and reprehensible.
Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives on Thursday, the CPN-UML lawmaker urged the government to ensure the university operates in a safe, dignified and academic environment. She also called for strict action against the perpetrators without political bias.
Bhattarai added that such activities by higher education students, under the banner of various political parties, are unlawful and condemnable. “The university has recognized the Free Student Union as a platform to identify student issues and protect their rights. However, its affiliation with political parties has made educational institutions unsafe,” she said.
Urging the government to prohibit hooliganism and vandalism, she called on the government to bring the perpetrators to justice without any political favoritism.
