KATHMANDU: A large number of supporters welcomed former King Gyanendra Shah at Tribhuvan International Airport upon his arrival in Kathmandu following a prolonged stay in Jhapa on Friday afternoon.
Supporters gathered outside the airport’s main gate to greet Shah upon his arrival in the capital.
The Campaign for the Protection of Nation, Nationality, Religion, Culture, and Citizens, along with pro-monarchy organizations, had called on supporters to reach the airport to welcome him.
Although the administration had imposed a prohibitory order in the airport area, a significant number of monarchists turned up to receive him. They chanted slogans in favor of the monarchy.
Former King Shah arrived in Kathmandu from Jhapa by helicopter.
