KATHMANDU: The high hilly and Himalayan areas of Gorkha district received snowfall on Wednesday. Laprak and other regions of the district have been seeing snowfall since Wednesday morning.
Tule Gurung, a local of Laprak, said that the integrated settlement at Gupsi Pakha in Laprak, situated at an altitude of 2,900 meters above sea level, has been receiving heavy snowfall since Wednesday morning. Gurung added that people from other parts of the district are coming to Laprak to enjoy the snow.
The integrated settlement in Gupsi Pakha has around 600 houses built by the Non-Residential Nepalis Association (NRNA) after the 2015 earthquakes.
In addition to Laprak, Samagaon, Chhekampar, Chumchet, Lho, Prok, Siddhibas, Bihi, and other villages in the district also received snowfall on Wednesday. The first snow of the winter has brought joy to the locals as they believe that crops such as wheat, barley, potatoes, and others will yield better harvests after the snowfall.
