KATHMANDU: The government has decided to allot land for the office building of Chumanuwri Rural Municipality in northern Gorkha.
The cabinet meeting held on Wednesday decided to allot about four and a half ropanis (24,642 sq ft) of land in Sirdibas for the purpose, according to government spokesperson and Minister for Information Technology and Communications, Rekha Sharma.
The land plot was previously occupied by the District Livestock Service Office.
Due to a lack of an office building, the rural municipality has set up its office in a rented building at Sirdibas.
A few days ago, Nima Lama, chairman of Chumanuwri Rural Municipality, had requested Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to arrange a land plot for the rural municipality office building. “We had to run from pillar to post to get a land plot to build our office building. Finally, the government has allotted us a land plot,” Lama said, adding: “Now we will build an office building that reflects the art and culture of this region.”
According to Lama, 60% of the building cost will be borne by the Local Development Infrastructure Center, while the rural municipality will contribute 40% of the cost.
