Lamsal holds virtual meeting with Nepali diplomats in Middle East

KATHMANDU: Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal held a virtual meeting with Nepali diplomats and officials stationed in the Middle East on Tuesday.

The meeting, held on the sidelines of the first Nepal-Oman Bilateral Consultation Mechanism meeting in Muscat, saw the participation of ambassadors, chargé d’affaires, consul generals, labor counselors, and other mission staff, according to a staff issued by the foreign ministry.

Issues related to online demand letter authentication, domestic female workers, worker rescue and compensation and management of deceased workers’ remains as well as trade, investment and tourism promotion were discussed in the meeting.

Secretary Lamsal emphasized the need to implement digital governance in line with the Nepal government’s policy, particularly in streamlining the demand letter authentication process. She urged officials to make service delivery more simple, transparent and effective.

She instructed the diplomats to actively promote economic diplomacy in their respective countries of assignment, according to the statement.
