Lamichhane transferred to Chitwan for questioning

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President and former Deputy Prime Minister Rabi Lamichhane has been transferred to Chitwan for interrogation over his alleged involvement in cooperative fund misappropriation.

He is currently in the custody of the District Police Office, Kaski, for an investigation into embezzlement of deposits from Suryadarshan Cooperative in Pokhara. On November 27, he was brought to Kathmandu for questioning over similar allegations tied to Swarnalaxmi Cooperative in Kalimati. Prior to that, he was taken to Rupandehi for his alleged role in siphoning funds from Supreme Savings.

In Chitwan, Lamichhane will face questions regarding the suspected transfer of funds from Sahara Chitwan Cooperative.

Funds were transferred from different cooperaitves into Gorkha Media Network. GB Rai, who is on the run, is the chairperson of the company. Lamichhane served as managing director of the company before he quitted the role to open RSP before the 2022 election.
