POKHARA: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane and four others have been remanded in custody for another five days.
A single bench of District Judge Chandra Kanta Paudel issued the order. Earlier, public prosecutors had requested a nine-day remand extension for the five.
This is the seventh extension of remand for Lamichhane and the other four, who have been accused of misappropriating deposits from district cooperatives.
Lamichhane was arrested in Kathmandu on October 18 and has been in the custody of the District Police Office, Kaski, since October 19 for an investigation into the alleged misappropriation of deposits from Pokhara-based Suryadarshan Saving and Credit Cooperative.
Similar cases have also been filed against Lamichhane in Rupandehi, Kathmandu, Chitwan, and Parsa districts. Police have taken Lamichhane to all these districts to record his statements.
